Ladies Competition Rules

Countback

If a competition has more than one winning score, in accordance with LGU rules countbacks will be over the last 9, 6, 3, 1 holes i.e. holes 10 – 18, 13 – 18, 16 – 18, 18. This rule also applies when competitors start at different holes in any competition.

Birdie and par tree

Players names to be entered on the appropriate boards if a birdie or par has been achieved in any Tuesday or Sunday competition.

Bingo Bango Bongo

A points based game and can be played by any number of players.Points are awarded for achievements on the green, it does not matter how many shots are taken to reach the green. Once the green is reached then strict etiquette must be enforced. The first player to get their ball on the green wins one point (BINGO)
The player in the group whose ball is closest to the pin once ALL the balls are on the green wins one point.(BANGO)
The player in the group who is first to hole out wins a point.(BONGO). Any player winning all three points on a hole doubles their points.

Bisque

Each player has her full complement of handicap strokes for stableford points which she may use on any hole. A decision must be made after each hole is played whether or not to use the strokes. For example, a player with an 18 handicap may score a 10 on the first (par 5). If she were to use her stroke here she would not achieve any stableford points so she may save her stroke until a later hole. If on the second (par 4) she scored a 5 she could use 2 strokes and get 3 stableford points. Players should mark their card with an x each time one of the strokes is used.

Criss Cross

This is a game in which the golfer or team compares corresponding scores on their scorecard and choose the lower of two scores resulting in a 9 hole total score.
This is not as complicated as it sounds! The front nine holes are paired up with the corresponding back nine holes. i.e. pair holes  No 1 and No 10, No 2 and No 11. etc.
Following the round compare the scores you recorded on No 1 and No 10 and circle the lower of the two; continue through to Nos 9 and 18. Finally add up the nine circled holes and subtract half the handicap.

Eclectic Competition

Duration of competition – 1st July to 31st October.
Entry fee for twelve cards must be paid for at the time of signing the entry sheet.
These cards can be used at any time other than in Match Play. The first card must be a complete 18 holes card, subsequently any nine or eighteen hole round qualifies, but in the spirit of golf no hole is to be played more than once in a round.  Half of handicap held at the close of play on 31st October to be deducted from the final score.

Flag Competition

Players play a stroke play round and are deemed to have finished their "round" when they have completed the number of shots equal to par for the course (71) plus handicap allowance.
The first player to start carries the flag and plants it on the spot where their ball lies on completion of their "round" and records their name on it.
If the ball is in the rough the flag should be planted in line with where the ball lies, on the edge of the fairway, no nearer the hole.  If the ball is on the green the flag should be planted next to the green.
Subsequent players who reach the flag with shots left should pick up the flag and carry it with them until they have completed the "round".  The flag is replanted when they complete their "round", the player should record their name on the flag.  The player who carries the flag the longest distance is the winner.  If necessary the competition may continue down the 19th or 20th hole etc.

Greensome play

St Andrews  Greensome  Match Play.
Stoke allowance full difference in handicap. Use the Greensome Sheet to find the handicap of each pair. Both players of each pair drive off and select the best shot; whoever takes the second shot on the first hole will play the second shot on all the odd numbered holes. The other player will take the second shot on all the even numbered holes. After the second shot on each hole play continues with alternate shots.

Medalford

Front nine Strokeplay minus ½ handicap to the nearest whole number, followed by Stableford on the back 9.
Subtract your back nine from your front nine nett to get your total. Lowest total wins

Ringer Competition

After signing the entry sheet and paying the entry fee, you will receive a special ‘Ringer’ scorecard.
The object of the competition is to record a score you have obtained for each hole that you consider you cannot better in any subsequent round. Enter this score against the appropriate hole on the Ringer scorecard and have it initialled and dated by your partner.  Once a score has been recorded for a hole it CANNOT be altered even if you score less in a later round. All entries to be made in biro/ink. Play in Match Play is not to be counted. Scores allowed from any other 9 or 18 hole round, but no hole is to be played more than once in a round!
When the card is complete, the result is worked out by deducting half your handicap held on the date of your last entry. It is the player’s responsibility to enter this on the scorecard.

String competition

As its name suggests, this competition (stableford) involves each player having pre-cut lengths of string. At any time, an individual may choose to move his/her ball in any direction, without penalty, by a distance not greater than the remaining lengths of the string. More than one length can be used at once, but once used, cannot be used again. This use is not restricted in any way and for example, it may be used to:
• Get out of a hazard without penalty
• Hole a putt
• Move back onto the course from out-of-bounds (if you are close enough!)
There will be lengths of 3, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18 inches.
The winner is the player with the best score - the length of string remaining is irrelevant - so use it wisely!
