Clubhouse, Bar & Restaurant Update

As you may have seen yesterday our Area has been moved into Tier 2 when the national lockdown finishes next week

Golf is permitted in 4 balls but the main restriction is that you are not allowed to socialise indoors with anyone outside of your household or support bubble.

Therefore the decision has been made and fully supported by the Board that the Bar and Restaurant will not reopen on Wednesday and will remain closed until we move into Tier 1 whenever that might be.

So moving forwards the following will happen during this period

Face coverings must be worn in ALL inside areas at ALL times

The Pro Shop will be open as normal, please ensure no more than 4 more people are in the Shop at any one time

The Clubhouse will be open for the use of the Toilets only between the hours of 8am to 4pm every day

Once you have finished your round you MUST leave the Club immediately to avoid any gatherings

The paramount importance is that everyone stays safe and we are adhering to the Tier 2 restrictions

As things start to return to normal, Hannah, Lee and the Clubhouse1896 team look forward to welcoming you back in the future and we can start enjoying all the Clubs Facilities again!

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Golf to Reopen on Wednesday 2nd December

As you may have seen, the Government have announced that the current national lockdown is coming to an end next week.

After clarification with England Golf and other organisations we are now able to open from Wednesday 2nd December in a 4 ball format

To ensure that Members get priority and the most opportunity to play our course during December

1. There will be no Reciprocals accepted and therefore we can’t expect to be accepted at other courses
2. Members Guests / Visitors can only be booked the day before if availability allows
3. Existing Society bookings will be honoured but no new ones will be accepted
4. Competitions across sections can continue to run as per before this latest lockdown

These guidelines will be reviewed at our next Board Meeting on Monday 21st December

A separate update with regards to the Clubhouse, Bar and Restaurant will be provided later this week once we know which Tier we are in

We look forward to welcoming you back next week… we have missed you!

Update to the Members, Guests & Visitors - 3rd November 2020

As from Thursday, Golf will not be allowed to be played in any form as part of the National Lockdown coming into force. Therefore the Clubhouse and Course will be closed.

There have been various petitions and discussions with the Government from England Golf but at the moment nothing has changed and we are having to close from Thursday 5th November.

We will to continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated as and when the rules change.

Hopefully its just a 4 week period with no golf but the most important thing is that we all pull together, play by the rules and bring the infection rate down.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask

Stay Safe

General Manager

Message to All Members, Visitors and Guests - 24th September 2020

New rules are now in place with regards to the Coronavirus and we need everyone to adhere to the current restrictions to help stop the spread of the virus.

We now have a QR code in a number of places in the clubhouse to help with NHS Track and Trace and would encourage everyone to download it if they have a compatible IOS or Android mobile device and scan the QR each time you enter the premises.

When using the Bar and Restaurant you MUST please wait to be seated and table service will be provided during your visit. Unfortunately this will mean some delays at times but please be patient and the Clubhouse 1896 staff will get to you as soon as possible. Do not approach the Bar at any time.

Although the current rules are ‘Groups of no more than Six’ we would ask that everyone sticks to their playing groups before & after your game, both inside & outside the Clubhouse.

Please do not move the furniture at any point and also please don’t move around to ensure we adhere to the guidelines

To confirm Face Coverings must be worn at ALL times inside the Clubhouse unless sat at your table for eating and/or drinking.

Failure to comply will mean you will be asked to leave.

We are all in this together and these measures are for the Members, Staff and Visitors to ensure we can still use the Clubhouse facilities in a safe environment.

If you have any concerns about anything relating to the restrictions then please come and speak to me and don’t approach a member of the bar staff.

Many thanks

Steve Sanger
General Manager

COVID-19 UPDATE - 23rd September 2020

Hopefully you will have seen the latest Government announcement or heard the new rules, so to confirm a few things

With regards to Face Coverings it is compulsory for anyone who enters the Clubhouse including the bar & restaurant to wear a face mask until they are sat at a designated table, once there, masks can be removed, but they will have to be used if going to the washrooms and upon leaving the establishment. Please remain at your table and do not move around to speak to other tables.

With regards to Clubhouse 1896 as of Thursday 24th September, all their staff have to wear face coverings at all times. (They have already been doing this so nothing will change).

It is now strictly table service only, whether sitting inside or out, please do not approach the bar at any time!

Please remember these are Government rules and we need to ensure we follow them to slow the spread of the virus and these are now written into law and heavy fines can be given to yourselves and us.

Your continued support in following these new measures is much appreciated

COVID-19 UPDATE - 10th September 2020

Following this week’s announcement from the Government in the change to the current restrictions which come into effect from Monday 14th September

The club will be making the following changes

Up to 6 people are allowed to sit together at any table inside or out. Ideally when inside please sit within your playing groups to ensure minimal social contact with a metre between yourselves. The tables and chairs have been set up accordingly and please do not move any of the furniture within the Main Lounge, Cossins Lounge or Patio area. It is now illegal to sit in groups of more than 6 and fines can be issued.

Please wait to be seated inside or outside as it’s now a legal requirement to take details for track and trace and although this was being done we need to ensure everyone is accounted for when using the Bar and Restaurant.

Please respect Social Distancing within all area of the Clubhouse especially if needed to queue.

NB – Society and team event organisers should take special care to ensure different groups of up to six people from within their party do not merge to form larger groups before, during or after a round. Travel to and from golf venues should continue to be in accordance with government regulations.

Also to assist in stopping the spread of the virus, all staff in the Bar, Pro Shop and Office will be wearing visors when in contact with Members, Guests and/or Visitors.

It's REQUIRED that anyone using the Toilets, Foyer, Office and Pro Shop wear a mask to help stop the spread.

At the moment we have a low infection rate in this area and we would like to keep it that way!
