May I offer a warm welcome to all members and non members who visit this web page.
I have chosen as my charity for this year ‘The Eve Appeal’ which funds research into Gynaecological Cancers. It does not seem to be as well known as other cancer charities but I thought it was very appropriate for the Ladies Section.
In the UK ovarian cancer is the most fatal of all the gynaecological cancers and each year 6600 women are diagnosed with it and 4400 die from the disease. There have been many advances in many areas of cancer research but the survival rates for ovarian cancer have not improved in the last 30 years.
The Eve Appeal was launched in January 2005. Its purpose is to fund pioneering research focused on developing effective methods of prediction, detection and treatment of all gynaecological cancers. The ambition is simple : to identify techniques that could reduce deaths by 50%. For more information click here.
